It's been a slow reading month. Duma Key wasn't doing it for me, way too depressing, so I stopped around p. 250. I read Foul Play, which was an easy read. I'm currently reading the new Alex Cross, Cross Country, which is good. Next, I'm on to It Is What It Is.

I just finished Evidence of Things Unseen by Marianne Wiggins, which I really enjoyed (thanks, Lisa, for picking it for book club). I'm on to Duma Key by Stephen King, which is of course, very well written and totally strange. I just can't imagine what's going to happen!

I just finished Jimmy Buffett's Swine Not?, which is a cute book about a pig living in NYC. I'm almost finished with Shopaholic & Baby, which I love. Sophie Kinsella is so great! I have a long TBR list, which includes Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyer, In the Woods - Tana French, The Queen of the Big Time - Adriana Trigiani, and The Yummy Mummy - Polly Williams.

For those of you who have never read Vicki Lane, her mysteries are great! Signs in the Blood is the first in the Elizabeth Goodweather series, followed by Art's Blood and Old Wounds. I'm on the third book and can't wait to start it!

I am almost finished with The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which is going to be one of my favorite books ever! It's phenomenal and I will recommend it to anyone! I can't wait to see how it ends!

I've just finished two books, featuring Avery Andrews, by Cathy Pickens. She visited our area this past week and was fantastic! I'm now on to Oprah's latest pick, The Measure of a Man. I'm hoping it's as great as she says! We'll see!

I'm currently reading Southern Fried by Cathy Pickens to get ready for her visit to town on Thursday. Her second book, Done Gone Wrong, is the sequel, which I also hope to finish by Thursday. Southern Fried is a quick, easy mystery that is highly entertaining! I have about 60 pages to go!

I'm currently reading Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, his first book where you meet Dr. Hannibal Lecter. I'm reading the book for my serieshorror reading group. This book is also a selection on my 2007 TBR Challenge List.

Best Friends

I just finished Best Friends by Martha Moody, which is a wonderful story about two women who meet in college. It tells of their lives and how they remain close as they go on to live their lives. My F2F book club read it and we all loved it!

The Historian

For those of you who have not read The Historian, you need to. It's a fantastic read that delves into the histories of several European countries as well as the history of Vlad Tepes (aka Dracula). A word of warning, however, don't pick it up unless you're reading to savor the words on the pages. It's not an extremely fast read, but one that is very interesting and enjoyable!

New Moon is the second in a series by Stephenie Meyer. They are about a high school student named Bella who gets mixed up with a vampire clan named The Cullens. She falls in love with Edward Cullen in Twilight, the first in the series, and their adventures continue in New Moon. These books are surprisingly good!
